A cardboard cooler in the desert!

We put the ThermaFresh cooler to the test at the 12th edition of the Trophée Roses des Sables.

Last year, our team put the ThermaFreshTM cooler to the test at the 12th edition of the Trophée Roses des Sables, which took place from October 11 to 21, 2012, between France and Morocco. Our ThermaFreshTM cooler made the trip, and did a fine job dealing with the extreme desert conditions!

A challenge for women only

The Trophée Roses des Sables is an international sporting competition for women only, and consists of crossing the desert in southern Morocco in a 4×4.  The mission: to deliver a minimum of 50 kg of donations per team to children in need living in the desert. The Déserteuses en Cavale sponsored a child from the desert, and had the opportunity to meet him and give him small gifts, pencils and notebooks. They also had their 4×4 filled with some 30 boxes of children’s clothing, shoes, diapers, baby bottles, and even a stroller. The objectives: to surpass personal limits and get involved in a humanitarian effort.

The Trophée Roses des Sables is a 10-day rally that starts in the south of France and ends in Morocco. The competition consists of five stages, each one more difficult than the next, putting the participants’ navigational and piloting skills to the test in extreme conditions, completely on their own, and more! The Déserteuses finished the rally in 37th position, out of a total of 183 teams.

The cooler’s test

The ThermaFreshTM cooler went along with the team as it travelled from dune to dune, and stood up to the extreme desert conditions. Night-time temperatures sometimes dropped as low as -10°C, and could soar to 35°C the same day!

The ThermaFreshTM is perfect for keeping food cold on your summer outings, at picnics, camping or at the beach, even during a heat wave! The ThermaFreshTM cooler is available at the Boutique Cascades.
