Drying hands; Essential to keep germs away this winter!

Washing your hands: 3 easy steps!

We all know the importance of washing our hands, but what about drying them? Often we are too rushed and we pass quickly over this crucial step towards good hand hygiene.

This year’s cold and flu season is bringing new levels of concern with H1N1 staging a comeback in North America. Health experts, such as Health Canada, are reminding the population about the importance of proper hand-washing and drying, with paper towels or a clean towel, to avoid the transmission of bacteria and viruses. Furthermore, the renowned Mayo Clinic study uses research to support its claim that “paper towels can dry hands efficiently, remove bacteria effectively and cause less contamination of the washroom environment” and that “paper towels reduced the numbers of all types of bacteria on the hands. However, the hot air dryer increased all types of bacteria on the hands.” Here is a good reason the dry our hands with a paper towel!

An Efficient Tool to Fight Epidemics

With 80 percent of all infections transmitted by hand, we developed a new tool to provide a simple and effective way to further reduce bacterial contamination and transmission. Specifically designed to compensate for people’s poor habits in hand hygiene, Cascades Antibacterial paper towel, award-winning paper product, including the gold medal at the Edison Awards 2013, reduces the quantity of residual bacteria on hands, while offering an antibacterial defense lasting two hours. Furthermore, research has shown Benzalkonium Chloride, the active antibacterial ingredient in this towel, to be effective against respiratory viruses like the flu. Testified favorably by Health Canada and accepted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), this towel can fit anywhere and doesn’t require additional steps or change in people’s habits, as it is used like regular towels.

Our Cascades Antibacterial paper towel is offered commercially through distributors for the Away-from-Home market, throughout North America. For more information about this innovative product, visit www.afh.cascades.com.
