Featured Cascader: Sébastien Dufort, Sales Manager

Learn more about Sébastien Dufort, Sales Manager at Cascades.

Sébastien Dufort joined Norampac, a division of Cascades, in 2007 as a junior sales representative. Sébastien, who has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université de Sherbrooke, is now Sales Manager of the Cabano unit in Québec, and the Trenton unit in Ontario. Let us tell you how this determined Cascader got where he is today!

Sébastien, why did you choose Cascades?

Cascades is one of Québec’s flagship corporations. I’ve always been interested in the business community, and Cascades seemed like a great company. I was looking for an employer who would give me the chance to move up through the ranks, and to develop professionally as well as personally. Over the past few years, I’ve had some wonderful opportunities: I went from junior sales rep to representative, then sales manager trainee, and now I’m a sales manager. And this is just the beginning!

Can you describe your typical day at work?

Since my territory is North America, I travel a lot! When I’m not on the road meeting with customers, I work on various projects at our head office in St-Bruno. I meet with people about different projects, which involve product development and collaboration with our customers and plants.

What are some of your daily challenges?

Making sure I’m meeting customer needs while respecting plant capabilities. I have to deliver high-quality and cost-effective products on schedule. If the customer is pleased and the plant is happy, then life is good! I also have objectives to meet in regard to volume, new customers and new products.

You participate in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie – what’s it all about?

I’ve participated in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie for the past two years as a member of the Norampac team. The Défi is a chance to get socially involved by carrying out Pierre Lavoie’s mission to promote physical activity and healthy life habits. I work with four other members of the Défi Committee to raise money and organize physical activities for our colleagues and the kids at a local school that we sponsor.

What are your hobbies and passions?

Sports play a big part in my life. When I was young I played tennis, competing on the Canadian circuit and teaching until I was 27 years old. Now I run, cycle, play tennis, boat, ski and snowshoe. Over the past few years, I’ve participated five times in the Tremblant 24h of skiing in support of children with cancer, and three times in the Relais du Lac Memphrémagog. Now that I have kids, we do sports as a family!

Most Cascaders are ecologically-minded, but since no one is perfect, what’s your environmental confession?

The recycling bin at our house is put to good use, but I must admit that sometimes a few non-recyclable items end up in it. I confess! 🙂
